Abstract

Translation errors that are distinguished by the strict dichotomy right/ wrong are called Binary Errors. Such errors occur when there are incorrect target-text concepts opposing to correct concepts due to shortage of essential knowledge related to linguistics.

The study adopts a focused pedagogical investigation into the kind and details of binary errors in translations from Arabic into English of undergraduate students of translation.

For the findings, the study refers the continuous error types to the problem of interference between Arabic and English. The study, ultimately, recommends that students’ linguistic competence ought to be traced, as to its training and development, to develop translation students capable of producing sound versions devoid of such primary errors.
