Recently, alternative antibiotics originating from natural or biological sources have been used, which have fewer detrimental effects on people. In this work, we evaluated the bactericidal efficacy of pectin against Staphylococcus aureus. The inhibition of pectin against Staphylococcus aureus isolated from human skin infection sites was measured. This inhibitory action was tested using several antibiotic tablets such as linezolid 30 µg, vancomycin 5 µg, amikacin 30 µg , ceftriaxone 30 µg, and cefotaxime 30 µg, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 30 µg. Pectin was utilized at a 100% concentration against the identified bacterial species. The inhibition zones were 16, 17, 14, 16, and 15 mm, respectively, compared to several of the antibiotics utilized in this investigation. Pectin was also utilized at varied concentrations (100%, 50%, 25%, and 12.5%) against five isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, yielding different inhibitory zones compared to several of the antibiotics used in this investigation. The (MIC) against Staphylococcus aureus was calculated, with the MIC of pectin reaching 50 µg/ml.
